Toriana's garden, Bofa Beach, Kilifi Creek, the open Indian Ocean and the nearby towns all provide a wide variety of activities to suite almost anyone.......................

Snorkelling
Snorkelling out from the beach in front of Toriana is great fun for all the family. The calm waters provide an easy environment to see a staggering array of marine creatures, from parrot fish and corals, to rays and angel fish.

Diving
If you want to go a little deeper, and spend a bit more time under the waves, then Kilifi offers some great diving opportunities. The Dive School at Mnarani Club situated on the south side of Kilifi offers courses from novice to expert and is only few minutes drive from Toriana Cottage.

Big Game Fishing
Kilifi is a well established base for deep sea fishermen. A number of boats are available for charter, and the renowned fishing experiences to be had off the Kenyan Coast explain why. The main fishing season begins in August, when Tuna and Wahoo are running. As the end of the year approaches, Marlin and Sailfish come in. Most charters practice tag and release fishing where these magnificent bill fish are concerned. Prices start from $200 for a half day excursion, up to $400-$600 for a full day depending on the charter and time of year. More information can be found at Mnarani Club.

Water-Skiing
Kilifi Creek is ideal for the water-ski enthusiast. With deep calm waters, and very little "marine traffic", a great time can be had out on the water. Again, Mnarani Club can organise an outing for you.

Bird Watching
The Kenyan Coast is a bird-watchers paradise. Toriana's immediate surroundings provide a number of different habitats, attracting sea-birds, waders, birds of the coastal scrub, garden birds, and many more. The nearby Kilifi Creek is also a haven for a wide variety of birds. All you need are your binoculars, a field-guide, an interest in nature, and maybe an old pair of takkies.
The nearby Arabuko Sokoke Forest is a World Bio-diversity Site, and Important Bird Area. Also, within an hours drive from Toriana, is Mida Creek, Gede Ruins, and the Sabaki River Mouth, all Important Bird Areas, offering fascinating birding experiences.

Places of Historical Interest
As mentioned above, Gede Ruins is about a 45 minute drive north from Toriana, and one of the oldest settlements in East Africa. To the south, Fort Jesus in Mombasa provides an equally amazing historical visit.

Pubs, Restaurants & Social Life
The Boat Yard is the local Pub situated on Kilifi Plantations just up the creek...........great food, cold beer and really good company. It's a working yard with boats all over the place ranging from yachts to ski boats and sail boats. Every Saturday is when all the locals meet up for lunch....a real social gathering....

Other places to eat are the Mnarani Club which does NOT accept children under the age of 16. Kilifi Bay Hotel is just down the road from Toriana and has a restaurant as well.

Other Activities
Of course, many guests at Toriana are happy to relax on the verandah, wallow in the sea, or enjoy beach games with friends and family.
